Songlist:

Highway Of Dreams - (3:12) BMI
Mike Campbell - Acoustic guitar & vocals, Lou Nathanson - Harmonica, The Great Alaskan Opry Chorus (Matt Hammer, Laura Hall, Loren Arment, Penny Lee, & Mike Campbell)
When we first moved to Alaska, we loaded everything we owned into a used livestock trailer and drove up the great Alaska Highway. For us it truly was our highway of dreams.

Tired Of These Rainy Day Blues - (4:46) BMI
Mike Campbell - Acoustic guitar & vocals, Stu Schulman - electric guitar
Kodiak, Alaska is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Like most things though, in order for beauty to develop, a little rain must fall.

Carhartts - (2:50) BMI
Mike Campbell - Acoustic guitar & vocals
Those of us who routinely work outdoors during the cold, Alaskan winters, depend on this tough brand of insulated, brown canvas outerwear. Shortly after I started singing this song at the various music festivals around the state, though, the company came out with a new line of designer colors. Hmmmm. Maybe someday, I'll find them in Florescent Pink!

High Country - (3:54) BMI
Mike Campbell - Acoustic guitar & vocals
Throughout history, there have always been a few people who have willingly given up their families, their farms, their businesses and everything they have worked for to go off in search of easy wealth.

Down To The Islands - (4:08) BMI
Mike Campbell - Acoustic guitar & lead vocals, Penny Lee & Laura Hall - harmony vocals,
Herb Kloss- flute
I work for the State of Alaska as a Weights & Measures Inspector. As part of our duties, we have to travel to many out of the way places in the state. In our office, whenever someone is scheduled to go down to Kodiak Island, Dutch Harbor, or farther out on the Aleutian Island chain, we refer to the trip as going "down to the islands".

I'll Always Be In Love - (3:41) BMI
Mike Campbell - Acoustic guitar & vocals, Mary Anne Schallert - violin
Here's a schmaltzy, waltzy love song. Everybody should try one once in awhile.

Snowshoe Shuffle - (3:13) BMI
Mike Campbell - Acoustic guitar & vocals, Stu Schulman - faux trombone
When you really want peace and quiet, there's nothing like a solitary walk through the Alaskan wilderness with the sun shining brightly on a thick blanket of new snow.

Andersonville - (3:59) BMI
Mike Campbell - Acoustic guitar & vocals, Lou Nathanson - Harmonica, Matt Hammer, Loren Arment, & Mike Campbell - harmony vocals
The Confederate prison camp in Andersonville, Georgia was the site of one of the worst atrocities in our country's history. None of us can truly know what it was like, but I have tried to put my impressions of its conditions into this song.

When Your Ship Comes In - (2:55) BMI
Mike Campbell - Acoustic guitar & vocals
This song came into being while I was sitting on the dock in Haines, Alaska waiting for the State Ferry Matanuska to pick me up and take me down to Juneau. We still have no way to drive to the capitol city of our 49th state.

Trailer Park Song - (2:56) BMI
Mike Campbell - Acoustic guitar & vocals, Stu Schulman - piano (& a little wacko heavy metal)
This is dedicated to all the people who, at one time or another, have lived in the close confines of a trailer park.

I Hate To See You Go - (3:39) BMI
Mike Campbell - Acoustic guitar & vocals, Herb Kloss - flute
The summer after my oldest daughter, Tracy, graduated from high school, we performed together on the Alaska music festival circuit. We had loads of fun and learned a lot about each other in the process. I wrote this song for her before she went off to college that fall.

Free Walter - (5:32) BMI
Mike Campbell - Acoustic guitar & vocals, The Great Alaskan Opry Chorus (Matt Hammer,
Laura Hall, Loren Arment, Penny Lee, & Mike Campbell)
An epic tale of injustice and vindication for one of Alaska's crustier natives.

About the cover: The artwork on the cover is a stone lithography print entitled "High Country". As with my first album cover, my father, Charles W. Campbell, completed this piece in 1980 while he was living in the high country of Flagstaff, Arizona. This print has been a favorite of mine ever since and I wanted to use it on this album, so I wrote a song by the same name.
